Someone’s cut grass hanging in the air
Lazy freedom of summers to spare
Not quite sixty inches tall
Nothing to it, I knew it all…

Under the bridge of my days
River of moments picks up pace
And flows past with indifference
Do I make a difference
In a current of events?

Steering wheel’s cold; it’s still early yet
Black ice waiting up ahead I bet
You’re my willing contraband
Stolen from your sleep like we planned

Just outside the edges of my vision
I can only make a guess
Where are we?  What deposited us here?
Will things work out more or less?
Still frame of grace beautiful and bright
Realized in the clear autumnal light
Hope I may, hope I might sleep well tonight

Reluctant step into a changed room
Same model me, different sense of gloom

Under the bridge of my days
River of moments picks up pace
And flows past with indifference
(I hope you’re having a ball)
Do I make a difference?
(Come home if the sky starts to fall)
Rushing cold and intense
Trying to get some sense
Of a current of events
